The Flüela at 2,383m is the fast route between Davos and the Lower Engadin. Wide sweepers, good sight lines, and a surface that rewards confident driving. Less tourist traffic than the Julier or Albula — locals use it as a transit road. The north side from Davos is the better drive: long flowing corners through alpine meadow. The Schwarzhorn lake at the summit is one of the best photo spots in Graubünden. Well-maintained year-round attempt, but winter closure is common above 2,200m. A clean, satisfying road that doesn't get the attention it deserves.
The Flüela Pass is open year-round, though conditions vary with the seasons. Check the current status panel before heading out.
The Flüela Pass is 29 km long. At a steady mountain pace, expect roughly 29 minutes behind the wheel — plus photo stops.
Yes — the surface is excellent and the difficulty is moderate. Lowered and wide-body cars are comfortable on the Flüela Pass, provided you take transitions smoothly.
No toll is required for the Flüela Pass. A valid motorway vignette may still apply on the roads you use to reach it.
Early morning is unbeatable on the Flüela Pass. Tourist coaches, cyclists and slow-moving caravans build up from mid-morning; first light also gives the cleanest photos. If you can only go in the afternoon, aim for after 17:00 when traffic thins again.
